New RSP Switches Offer Zero Switchover Time for Harsh Environments

For mission critical applications, it is vital that there be no downtime. To enable maximum network availability for critical applications in the toughest of environments, Belden recently released the Hirschmann RSP Switches.

So how to the RSP Switches meet the requirements of harsh mission-critical environments?

The RSP Switches support the new IEC-standard redundancy protocols, which make them ideal for environments such as electricity distribution, mechanical engineering, production or security, where uninterrupted data communications in environments are a requirement. The RSP switches support the parallel redundancy protocol (PRP) and high-availability seamless redundancy (HSR), which provide failover times of 0ms. These protocols are based on the IEC62439 standard. Read more »

Product Spotlight: GarrettCom 10C Substation Computer Designed for Harsh Environments

10c_substation_computerFor harsh environmental conditions such as those found in a power utility substation, only a hardened computer purpose-built for the environment will do. The Magnum 10C is designed to enable mission-critical applications to withstand extreme temperatures, power surges and fast transients, as well as other issues present in harsh environments. Options include a sealed chassis and convection cooling using a patented thermal design.

The Magnum 10C is part of the GarrettCom brand’s 10-Series family of next generation substation offerings specifically designed for power utility applications and other extreme environments. The new substation computer meets or exceeds the IEC 61850 and IEEE 1613 global standard to support substation communications needs with error-free operation. Read more »
